Learn to Knit a Top-Down Raglan Sweater
5 Fridays from 2:00 - 3:30 pm
October 31, November 7, 14 & 21 and December 5 (skipping Thanksgiving week)

Join Kate to learn the most versatile sweater style, the raglan! Everyone loves a top-down (try on as you knit) raglan. We will be using the Turtle Dove pattern by Melissa Clulow (EspaceTricot) which has a modern shape and lots of ease. Knit on larger needles with a gauge of 3.5 sts/in, this sweater will knit up very quickly. In fact, you will knit it in 6 weeks with 5 class sessions and complete it before the holidays! Maybe it’s a gift or maybe it’s for you!
The class is appropriate for learning how to knit your first adult-size sweater.
Skills required to take this class:
· Very comfortable knitting and purling, including ribbing
· Experience knitting small circumferences in the round (with either double pointed needles or magic loop)
· Long-tail cast-on
· Some experience reading knitting patterns
Skills you will learn in this class:
· Raglan sweater construction
· Sleeve construction
· Twisted rib
· Greater ease and understanding of reading patterns
· Finishing skills
· German short rows (optional)
Supplies Needed:
· The Turtle Dove pattern (can be found on Ravelry or purchased at Lost Art)
· Yarn that will knit at 3.5 stitches per inch (yardage to be determined by the size you knit)
· A 40 in circular needle in the size needed to get gauge (usually a US 10.5 or 11) as well as another needle 1-2 sizes smaller for ribbing.
· If not using Magic Loop, double-pointed needles in the above gauges for smaller circumferences
· Stitch markers, tapestry needle and something to hold sleeve stitches (scrap yarn, etc)
· Row counter (opt)
You will receive a welcome email before the first class with instructions on how to knit your gauge swatch.
Please have at least one skein of yarn wound into a ball, if needed, before the first session.
Cancellations must be made 7 days prior to class start date in order to receive a refund.
Minimum of 2 students required for the class. Maximum of 6 students allowed.
This is an adult knitting class. Please inquire if you have a child interested in knitting or crocheting.
