Well, Crazy yarn is sold out! I'm so sad that it's gone. However, we still have some Shepherds Wool left... in both the Sport weight and Worsted weight. They are both on sale for 25% off until gone.
And Super Bowl Sunday Sale! Yes, it will happen this year - I'm just not sure if will be in store or online only. I will probably make my decision the week before. What I know so far is it will be on Sunday, February 13 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
Its true! I just got off the phone with Jodi at Stonehedge Fibers... they lost their yarn and dye supplier and have announced that they will not be selling wholesale anymore. I am so sad to see them go. Crazy is such a fun yarn to knit with. They are going to try to keep a small retail business going, but they are unsure of the future at this point. Good luck to them on whatever the future brings...
"As most of you know, we have had a hard time getting our wool from the dye house over the last year and a half. This morning, I opened an email that has literally rocked our world. Our dye house has informed us that they can no longer supply us with our dyed wool. They have been struggling with staffing shortages and that has put them very far behind in their government contracts, which is their primary business. It has been a very stressful and emotional morning trying to come up with a plan that will still allow us to continue with our wholesale line of Shepherd’s Wool and Crazy. Unfortunately, the loss of the dye house is too big of a hit for us to be able to continue to sell Shepherd’s Wool and Crazy wholesale. I have many back orders still in the works. I also have a few orders that I have received prior to today’s news. We have every intention of filling those orders. Should you decide you don’t want your back orders, please let me know.
I know this news will come as a shock as I think I will be in shock for
several days myself. Please know that we have looked at every possible way to avoid making this very difficult decision. We are a family run business and through the years you have become part of our family. That makes our decision even more difficult.
So, what is next for us? We will be going through a transition to focus more on the custom processing side of our business. We have several machines we will need to sell and the manufacturing space we rent in a building in our town will need to be emptied and moved here to the farm.
We plan to open an online retail store to sell any remaining Shepherd’s Wool and possibly add on to our little fiber shed here on the farm. We will not be discounting or liquidating the Shepherd’s Wool or Crazy. We will need any income from those retail sales to keep our heads above water until we know how the transition will play out. My mom joked this morning that she might semi-retire and I can take over the shipping and invoicing and she can watch the grandkids and make some hand dyed yarn to sell in our shop. There is a lot to still figure out in the coming weeks, but we felt that it was important to make this decision quickly and to let you know as soon as we could.
We opened the mill in 1998 doing custom processing. We never expected to have a wholesale line and for it to be as popular as it has been the last 16 + years and it’s all because of you!
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support all these years and we wish you much success in your business.
Sincerely,
Jodi & Deb"
